For Us All
Poetry
A lovely peach rose has grown in front of my window.
Thick heavy grey smoke presses hard on our burning earth.
But You have not left us without beauty in this ashen weeping
world.
Today I pray:
For those burdened and broken from owning too much
And for those who are cold and hungry.
For those who live in the delusion of their power and position
And for those too weak to cry out for help.
For those whose god is indulgence and greed
And for those who have given up wanting.
For those believing themselves safe behind walls and security
cameras
And for those exposed and empty-handed before the threats of
life.
For those with too many to care for
And for those with no one to care for.
For those who trust their bodies
And for those whose bodies are broken and weak.
For those isolated in the palaces
And for those in jail cells alone.
Oh God, you are the lover of us all
Meet us all with you grace today,
And spread your love abroad in our hearts.
